Labor Day is on Monday, September 7, 2026, and Lackland ISD will be closed to observe this national holiday. All campuses and district offices will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Grateful for Our Amazing School Community
When Friday’s storm swept through San Antonio on August 29, it left significant damage across our community and on our school grounds.
Throughout the weekend, members of our maintenance team worked tirelessly to clear debris, assess damage, and begin restoring our campuses. Teachers and school administrators joined them, generously giving their time and energy wherever help was needed. From clearing branches and removing debris to lending a hand wherever they could, everyone worked side by side with one shared goal: restoring our campuses to safe, welcoming spaces for our students and staff.
We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, teamwork, and kindness shown by everyone who stepped up to help. Moments like these remind us that our school is more than a collection of buildings—it is a community of people who care for one another and are willing to step up when it matters most.
A heartfelt thank-you to our amazing maintenance team, teachers, administrators, and every volunteer who rolled up their sleeves, pitched in, and helped our school community recover. Your generosity and teamwork made a meaningful difference, and we are grateful to have you as part of our school family.

Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.

Stacey Jr/Sr Cross Country Team
The Stacey Jr/Sr Cross Country Team travelled to Harper to compete in the 2026 Harper Cross Country meet. The Harper meet is an important meet this season as it is where the District meet is being held in October as well as having teams from within our District and Region there.
The boys, led by Jarred Dunn (7th place; 18:45) and Role Garcia (15th place; 20:14) placed fourth overall out of fifteen teams. Selah Ventura led the girls finishing 21st in a time of 14:45. In the 8th Grade race, Joshua Philpott placed 3rd overall with a time of 13:29. Great job to everyone who competed in the heat!!
Medina Volleyball Tournament
The varsity volleyball girls competed in the Medina volleyball tournament last weekend and after two days of tough competition, the team made it all the way to the championship game! It was a hard fought battle in the championship match but eventually our girls lost in 3 sets. The entire team has been making tremendous progress throughout the season. Mckynlee Adams and Jordan Davis were selected as All-Tournament selections!! Fly Eagles Fly!!

With these positions filled, our unit's leadership structure is complete! The cadets selected today, working alongside our Group Command Staff, make up the full team of cadet leaders who will build this unit's legacy and guide us through our historic first year.
The LDR teams are the operational heart of Stacey High School AFJROTC. Every decision was made with great care to place cadets in roles that will challenge them, match their demonstrated skills, and keep our core mission—service, leadership, and developing citizens of character—at the center of everything we do.

Marksmanship Status: We have scaled this team down to a select "start-up core" of members for the LDRs inaugural phase. Getting on the range requires significant coordination, logistics, and safety procedures. Once our core team gets these range operations fully established and certified, we will open up LDR sign-ups, again, to the rest of the unit!
Drill Team: While we had high hopes for our Drill Team, unfortunately we did not have enough student interest to officially stand up this LDR for our inaugural year. However, this is just a pause, not an end. Throughout the school year, we will be working to build excitement, cultivate interest, and lay the groundwork so we can launch a competitive Drill Team next year.
Next Steps & Schedule for ALL LDRs
LDR Leadership Coordination Meeting: All newly selected LDR leaders will meet with the Group Command Staff, Colonel Jones, and Chief Wellman next week (during a FLEX day) to lay out operational plans.
LDR Start Date: Cadets can anticipate LDR activities beginning the week of September 14th.
Schedule: Practice/meetings will run after school from 1530 to 1615 on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
Stay tuned—more specific details will follow as our new LDR leaders finalize their individual team programs!
A Message to Our Unit To our newly selected LDR Leaders... congratulations! You have been entrusted with building these teams from the ground up and setting the standard for every cadet who follows in your footsteps.
To those who were not selected for a formal leadership position in this final round: please know that leadership in a cadet-led program is not restricted to a title or a job description. Every single cadet plays a vital role in building our unit’s culture, supporting our team leaders, and driving our success. Your character, work ethic, and daily choices will shape this program just as much as any command role.
Our leadership foundation is officially set. Let’s celebrate these leaders, support one another, and make this first year unforgettable!

Reading Eagle Time
During Reading Eagle Time, students practiced important foundational reading skills. We worked on:
*Identifying words that do not rhyme
*Completing phonemic awareness puzzles
*Recognizing and reading sight words
*Using sight words and vocabulary correctly in sentences
These activities helped students strengthen their phonemic awareness, word recognition, vocabulary, and sentence-building skills.

Library Scoop
Happy Friday! We have our first Book Fair coming up just around the corner. The last week of September will be an opportunity to select some wonderful books from Literati! More news to come on that...
Our littlest Eagles learned about the different types of books in the library with a story about Mr. Wiggles this week, and they made a Mr. Wiggles, too. Our first and second graders learned about book care and checked out a new book. And students in the upper grades identified inferences and use of personification in a great book about the New York Public Library's iconic lion statues. They also discovered a few facts about lions using a database in the library. Awesome week of learning and exploration!
