Safe Storage of Firearms
A firearm should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere.
It is unlawful to store, transport, or abandon an unsecured firearm in a place where children are likely to be and can obtain access to the firearm. Under the Penal Code, a person commits the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child if the child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm, and the person with criminal negligence:
· Failed to secure the firearm; or
· Left the firearm in a place to which the person knew or should have known the child would gain access
The penalty for allowing a child access to a firearm can range from a Class C misdemeanor (punishable by a $500 fine) to a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by a $4000 fine, a year in jail, or a combination of the two).

Dear Lackland ISD Families and Students,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing summer. Whether you are returning to our district or joining us for the very first time, we are absolutely thrilled to welcome you to the Lackland ISD family.
It has been a busy and productive summer on our campuses. Our teachers and staff enjoyed some well-deserved rest, engaged in professional development to bring fresh ideas into the classroom, and prepared inspiring learning spaces for our students. We have also welcomed several talented new staff members to both our elementary and junior-senior high school teams who are eager to make this year exceptional.
To our military families: thank you for your service and dedication to our country. We recognize the unique opportunities and challenges that come with military life, and we are deeply honored that you have entrusted us with your child’s education. Our commitment is to provide a nurturing, high-quality learning environment where your child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Things to Know as We Begin:
-
Open Communication: Strong partnerships between home and school are vital to student success. Please never hesitate to reach out to teachers or administrators if your child needs extra support—academically or socially—or if you simply have a question.
-
Get Involved & Stay Connected: Keep an eye out for upcoming information regarding our Back-to-School Orientation, campus events, and details on how to log into our parent portal and communication apps.
-
Visit Us: Our doors are always open to our school community! We invite you to stay involved and visit throughout the year to see all the incredible learning happening in our classrooms every day.
We are entering this year with great enthusiasm, high expectations, and a dedicated team ready to support every student. Together, we will learn as much as we can, celebrate every success, and make memories along the way.
Let’s make this our best school year yet!
Respectfully,
Dr. Burnie L. Roper
Superintendent of Schools

Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.
ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to:
*Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app
*View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events
*Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents
For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app. The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store. If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well. ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.
Parent Square Notifications
Under General Announcements, you can select how often you want to receive notifications for posts. Select Off, Instant or Digest notifications.
Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.
Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.
Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.
The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and post messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message.

The high school volleyball teams season started on August 1st @ 7:00 am and the girls have been working hard ever since. The varsity has a large core of players returning from last season and is setting it’s sights on winning district and capturing it’s first playoff victory since 2019. The JV is compromised of new faces and incoming 9th graders. They are building chemistry and making great progress. Both teams played their first game on Tuesday August 11th at Kenedy HS and both teams came away with victories. The JV won 2 sets to 1 and the varsity team won a thrilling match in 5 sets! The Stacey High School Cross Country team kicked off the season in Kenedy this past Saturday at Joe Gulley Park. The girls ran first and all three Stacey runners finished in the top ten. Selah Ventura (2nd, 14:14), Evangeline Ventura (3rd, 14:24) and Lilly Dubbs (10th, 14:49) started the season off with great finishes and hope to put together a successful season. After that the boys, led by Jarred Dunn (4th, 18:18) and Roel Garcia (17th, 19:45) finished 3rd overall as a team. They are all looking to improve on last year's finish and qualify for the State Meet in Round Rock this season. This week they run in San Antonio at the SA Friday Night Lights run being held at the Alamo City Youth Sports Fields. Good to everyone running and let’s have a great season!

Students are getting to know our library space with a fun movement activity before viewing slides about library procedures. We have had some laughs with a great fictional book about a dragon misbehaving in the library to remind students how they need to care for books and each other in our space. We are busy getting a collection of new books added to our library platform so students can enjoy these new titles. Happy reading!
